an introverted young man with a curiosity to learn new things, damien constantly tries to push himself out of his comfort zone. since he grew up in an environment where every day was more or less the same, he's quite attracted to spontaneity and unpredictability. sometimes, he can be a little awkward with people, especially if he isn't yet familiar with them - but once he's comfortable, it can be difficult to get him to stop talking and asking questions. eager to please and afraid of criticism, he always tries his best to be likeable and put his best foot forward. his sense of heroism comes primarily from novels, and even though he tries to be brave, he's a bit of a scaredy-cat without adrenaline. also, damien can be a little sensitive. he tries his best to see different perspectives and avoids conflict when he can, but if an opinion really irritates him, he will end up speaking out on it. he tends to hold grudges.likes animals, gardening, reading

early life
damien is the oldest of three children born to a couple of commoners in the county of gloucester. conceived by accident when his parents were very financially stressed, he was treated like a nuisance and never had a proper childhood. his younger siblings were born ten and thirteen years after him, and while he wanted so much to love them, he was jealous of how much his parents spoiled them. at the age of fourteen, he began taking jobs officially. he planted and harvested crops, helped with marketplace stalls, and maintained horses and their stables. all of his earnings were expected to be given to his parents, but this did not bother him much - until he learned of garreg mach monstery. they said that it was a place where even commoners could find a place in the world, a place where you could mingle with the future leaders and nobles of fodlan. it sounded like a dream and he yearned to be there. his parents began to grow suspicious as he brought less money each week - he was saving up for enrolment and begging the village veterans to train him. eventually, his parents learned of his plans, which resulted in a confrontation and further strain on their relationship. it did not stop him from going through with the enrolment, apologising only to his younger siblings before leaving his family.academy phase
damien enrols in the garreg mach monastery officers academy in imperial year 1180 and joins the golden deer. unsure of how to act in this new environment, he is quite introverted and also lacks confidence because he feels both unrefined and unskilled. he becomes a lot more comfortable over time.verdant wind
keeping the promise made five years ago, damien reunites with claude and the golden deer.
